Empowering the Youth: Oakland Youth to Vote for School Board in November 2024

In a historic first for California, 16- and 17-year-olds in Oakland will be able to vote in the upcoming school board elections in November 2024. This expansion of voting rights is thanks to the passage of Measure QQ, approved by two-thirds of Oakland voters in 2020.This move empowers young people to have a say in decisions directly affecting their education. Eligible youth must use California’s pre-registration system to register as “youth voters” here.

October 7, 2024: Mail ballots sent out; early voting begins
